June 17-19 took four of my grandchildren to Pine to the old homestead. They had a wonderful time catching grasshoppers, riding Dean's horse that he boards there and going up the creek.
On Thursday Clint came up with his girlfriend Kimberly. He hooked up the old pulley and the kids took rides on it. Then he wanted to go to the East Verde River to swim in the swim hole that Nan used to take my kids to. We got there and it was around 6:30 pm. Clint and Kimberly went to the other side of the river and the kids followed. There was a same water fall where they could ride the rocks down. They were having this great time and I was taking pictures from the other side of the creek. I looked up and there was a bear coming down the rocks about 50 feet from my kids. I screamed to Clint, "There is a bear!!!" He could not hear me because of the gurgling water. He turned to look to see what I was pointing at and saw the bear. Him and Kimberly were grabbing kids and running across the river as fast as they could. When they got across the kids started to run up the hill to the car. The bear had crossed the river and was standing on the hill. They turned around screaming and ran down the hill. The bear then went back down to the river and crossed and went back up the rocks. We ran to our cars and got back to old homestead as quick as possible. When we were back at the house Logan said, "It's a good thing we had family prayer this morning or we would have gotten eaten up." What an experience!!!
